Depression: Let’s Talk
Preferred Choices PPO, along with the Michigan Behavioral Health Interplan Workgroup, support NATIONAL DEPRESSION SCREENING DAY (NDSD), Thursday October 5, 2006. More that 19 million Americans (950,000 in Michigan) suffer from some form of depression. The fact is: depression is a treatable medical condition. You should seek medical treatment for depression just as you would for high blood pressure or diabetes. Treatment may include medication, counseling or both.
Through education and awareness, we are working to eliminate the myths that often surround depression. The first step is to get screened - the primary goal of NDSD.
Take the free, confidential, anonymous depression screening or call 1-877-769-5501 for telephone screening. Preferred Choices members are urged to talk with their primary care physician about screening results or any concerns they may have. Preferred Choices members may call the mental health number listed on their Preferred Choices member ID card to speak directly with a mental health specialist, 24 hours/7 days a week to obtain care. No referral is required
